About Shakti Retreats

Launched in 2017 by International Sattva Yoga Teacher Elena Rose Davis, Shakti Retreats is a growing travel company dedicated to bringing transformational retreats around the world.

Shakti Retreats was created to bring people out of their comfort zones. Literally traveling to places around the world and energetically moving beyond the concepts of the mind to reach higher states of consciousness. Elena’s vision for Shakti Retreats going forward is to continue spreading light worldwide, uniting with other teachers to create unique yoga retreat experiences for women and men that include not only yoga, but rituals and ceremonies based in the Tantric tradition as well as from the culture where the retreat is hosted. It is very important to Shakti Retreats to honor the Divine in the land. This connection to the Divine Feminine isn’t about gender or religious sect. It is about seeing ourselves, our world, and our fellow beings as interconnected by Divine Grace. Shakti Retreats will take you on a journey to seeing the very grace that is life itself.

Shakti: (Devanagari: शक्ति, IAST: Śakti; .lit “power, ability, strength, might, effort, energy, capability”[1]), is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe[2] in Hinduism and   Shaktism.

Shakti is the concept or personification of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as “The Great Divine Mother” in Hinduism.

Retreat: The meaning of a spiritual retreat can be different for different religious communities. Spiritual retreats are an integral part of many Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and Sufi (Islamic) communities.

About Elena Rose Davis

Elena became interested in the healing arts at a young age, becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist when she was 19 years old. In 2009 Elena created Peace of Mind Massage in Denver, Colorado; a wellness center and community of healers. When the business grew to allow Elena to step away and contribute remotely she began traveling turning her attention on her own self healing. This eventually led her to Sattva Yoga in India. Elena began practicing yoga at around the same time she became a Massage Therapist but when she discovered Sattva Yoga she learned the true meaning and power of yoga.

After completing her 200 Sattva Yoga Teacher Training Elena went on to teach in the United States, Australia, Sri Lanka, India, and Indonesia. Currently Elena is residing in India where she is teaching at the Sattva Yoga studio in Rishikesh before taking an additional 300 hour Sattva Yoga Teacher Training.

Elena uses Sattva Yoga as a tool for self mastery, self discovery, and ego self destruction. Her personal mission is to be a fearless creator, unite spirit and body, and to be of service to others. At the end of her first Sattva Teacher Training Elena had no intention to teach yoga. She found herself there for her own spiritual expansion and yet when she met with the Guru Anand, he very clearly told her she’d be teaching and running yoga retreats – specifically for women. Six months later, Elena would co-host her first women’s retreat in Bali.

For Elena, becoming an International Yoga Teacher and launching Shakti Retreats has arisen out of devotion to the practice that have proven life changing for her and for many other people touched by this radical wisdom.

About Sattva Yoga

Sattva in Sanskrit means whole. The practice of Sattva is expansive, holistic, integrative, and comprehensive. This practice can only be learned by traveling to the Himalayas in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga. Sattva Yoga was created by world renowned guru Anand Mehrotra who has weaved the traditional and sacred practices of the ancient Tantric yoga tradition; kundalini kriyas, pranayama, meditation, mudras, mantras, and vinyasa. Every journey is different depending on the ‘Bhava’ or attitude of the kriyas in which are being shared. It can be fierce, receptive, feminine, masculine, invoking shiva or shakti energy, or sun or moon energy, to name a few. One class will have waves taking you on a true journey of self realization, exploration, and liberation. The practice commands your full presence, allowing you to come out of your mind and into your heart, where powerful transformation occurs.
